Vintage Love

{I had started this post last night (as in uploaded the pictures & that's it). I had planned to write it this morning before getting ready for work, but that didn't pan out as I was awoken by a phone call from my daycare provider. I looked at the clock and it was 7:00. OH CRAP! I was supposed to be up a half hour ago. Wait- I was..then I shut the alarm off and foolishly said to myself, "I'll just lay here for 5 more minutes." I had 20 minutes to get myself and Bug ready for the day and a blog post was just not going to happen.}

Way back when I posted about a CL deal that I happened upon where I got two sewing machines for $10. I had been meaning to try them out since then but haven't had the time. FINALLY on Friday night I got them out in preparation for a sewing party that was to happen on Saturday. I first tried the yellow one. The thread needle was all tangled up with the bobbin thread, but once I got that mess cleared out it ran so smooth...

I absolutely LOVE this machine! Not only because of it's vintage look, but also because of the ease with which it sews. Even the Hubba-Bub commented on how smooth and quiet it was. Who would have thought? I was sure it was going to be clickity-clackity wickity-wackity. There are only certain times that I enjoy being wrong and this was definitely one of them. Along with the sewing machine came a few other goodies that I thought I would share with you.

This little box neatly tucks away into the case of the machine and came to me loaded looking exactly like this. Is it just me or do other people get a giddy feeling when they own something someone else has used and you think about what the people before you had done with it?

Just look at that beauty! I was in utter bliss when I found this tucked away in the compartment that stores the foot pedal and electrical cord. The condition is EXCELLENT just like the rest of the machine and its goodies. They just don't make things like they used to, do they?

I don't have pictures of the blue one yet, but I did try it out. It is even older than this model and unfortunately is a bit more clickity-clack wickity-wack too. I will have a post coming up about that one showing it off, so be on pins and needles in anticipation to see the beaut. (pun intended)

Now I'm on the hunt for a treadle sewing machine. I think the Hubba-Bub has already admitted his defeat.
