Dining Room Plans

I felt a bit inspired tonight and thought I would gather all most of my ideas for the dining room into one place and share it with the world you. I think the overall look of this room is shabby-chic.

We already have curtains that I love, which is rare because I am lost when it comes to window treatments! They are a deep red and give off a relaxing romantic feel. They will definitely be staying.

Then we have our table which I love and tried spray painting while on maternity leave in the middle of a snow storm and it didn't come out too good. I need to sand it down and re-paint it black (again!) and then distress it a bit by sanding.

Next on my list is to make some parsons chairs. I have always loved parsons chairs but could never bring myself to pay $100+ for one chair. Luckily, I was browsing one of my favorite blogs and found this blog, which has completely inspired me and given me confidence in making them! Although I love the classic white leather on them, I don't think it is the most practical for a home that has a toddler, three dogs, and a dirty husband, so I have decided to go with burlap! Gasp!- I know won't it be wonderfully stunning?!

Next is the hutch that we bought off of CL for $35! It needs a little work (sanding, painting, new knobs) but once that is done it will be a BEAUTY! (I'll be sure to post the progress made on that). And finally to what I think might be my favorite piece...

I was blog hopping the other day, and I'm not sure how I came to this blog, but I saw the bubble chandelier and fell in love! I knew I had to have it. Catch? Well I don't have $7k to buy it with...Next best thing? There is a guy who tells you how to make a knock-off. I love that chandelier so much that I think The Home EC Teacher's Daughter should be my new best bloggy friend! She has some pretty neat things over on her blog too, so you might one to check it out. One of my favorites is the card catalog turned coffee table/ottoman.

Are more of a visual person? Good, me too! I have put together this little collage of what I've been talking about above to help you visualize the look. Keep in mind that the items in the collage are not the ones that we actually have in our house, nor is the background photo with the curtains even our house. If I weren't so lazy, I would have gotten up and took a picture of our current dining room with the curtains and table, but I'm too comfortable to move.

So what do you think?
